Consumption and idolatry of Pop Culture
My work is undoubtedly a profound and visually striking critique of the contemporary obsession with consumption and idolatry of pop culture.
The deeper we sink into consumer culture, the further we drift from our own humanity. Our actions become transactional, our identities shaped by what we acquire rather than who we are.
I combine different symbols and cultural elements to convey these complex messages. I play with the double meaning: the innocent fun of childhood versus the tensions created in our world by our consumer society.
I represent elements sometimes in almost “chaotic” compositions at a much larger scale, with the use of vibrant colors, metallic shines and reflections and feel for the materials, generating a characteristic contrast in my works and a visually attractive atmosphere.
